Laser Hardening

As an innovating leader in research and development, we are looking to bring technologies to you that add true value. Our laser hardening process hardens steel in localized areas, eliminating the deformation and potential warpage caused from heat-treating. Hardening in local areas can extend the life of sharp parting lines, high-abrasion areas, eliminate galling, and extend tool wear. This technology is effective for a variety of applications and molds, including small tools. Laser hardening services are available in Italy and Germany.

Tribocoat® Mold Coatings

Exclusively available at Standex Engraving Mold-Tech, Tribocoat® is a proven composite electroless coating that has the best combination of corrosion and wear resistance, dry lubrication and adhesion properties. Extend mold life, reduce cycle time and enable a quick effortless release with this performance-engineered coating.

Release Coat

Release Coat is a proprietary mold surface treatment developed by Standex Engraving Mold-Tech to produce injection-molded parts free of defects.  Release Coat recontours mold surfaces at the micro level to cover pores, crevices and any etch-marks for superior mold release. It creates smoothness to create low gloss levels, increase scratch resistance and minimize stains, tiger striping, ghosting and other inconsistencies.

Laser Micro-welding

Depend on the meticulous precision of our highly skilled technicians to perform a repair using laser micro-welding. With microscopic magnification, light energy is expertly manipulated to rapidly heat the weld zone with no transfer of heat through the mold.

Polishing and Lapping

Handcrafted lapping and mirror-finishing is the manual practice of metal workmanship using canvas, stones and abrasive pastes applied with specialized instruments. It takes an artistic eye and great ability to polish steel and other metals to create high performance molds. We have refined the traditional work processes and invented patented tools to guarantee effective and efficient service.

Assembly and Tool Management

The ZPL process is an exclusive Standex Engraving Mold-Tech technique to eliminate the appearance of matched-insert parting lines. The insert is carefully hand-worked in the cavity, set in the molding position, and then textured in place, delivering a perfect parting line match.  Zero parting lines are possible.
